Eggs Minus the Bacon

Skittles, sixlets, corn nuts, nerds, and popcorn are all wonderful foods. So it would only make perfect sense that trout absolutely love eggs. It must be like candy coming down the number line for hungry browns and bows. Excellent little orange morsels full of protein just flowing down the river waiting to be used as energy by anything with fins.

It isn’t a fancy or difficult pattern. There are probably a billion different ways to tie it. A billion different color variations. Over trillions are out there all over the world. It came before the chicken. You can fry or scramble them. Platypus’s lay them. It is also the fly of the month….the egg fly!! Used all around the world by anglers…for better or worse.

Love is in the Air

With all the loving to do and the very non conducive fishing conditions this report will be short. Make sure to enjoy all the sweet things and sweet ones in your life for Valentines Day. Then it is time to start taking inventory of your angling supplies cause winter is coming to an end quickly.

Speaking of angling…there are some steel around mostly holdover fall fish but a few fresh fish are starting to make there way into the river. Brown’s are also on the menu with nymphs being their happy meal. The fishing can be tough, the launches can be treacherous and it will be cold but trout can be caught. Safety always comes first and be safe this time of the year!! Or go look through a hole in the ice on a lake….I can dig it
