I prefer salmo trutta myself and have been ignoring the brutes but the time has come for change for the month at least.There is great risk for great rewards on the early salmon game. Your fish are a much better quality, the weather is amazing, the salmon crowds are not here yet are the rewards. Lack of fish from the unpredictability of the early run is your only true con. Which isn’t often but can be a huge risk. During peak season an angler can survive on plan C, D, E and so on. This time of the year you may only have a plan A!!Trout fishing is great this month in many different formats. Day or night from egging during the day to wake flies at night and all the good stuff in between (terrestrials, streamers). It is a wonderful month to fish with multiple target species so get out spread the fun, respect each other and love it!!
